Culture and local commerce come together in a new campaign linked to the Oviedo 2031 bid
Two hundred shops in Oviedo will begin distributing illustrated postcards from tomorrow, Thursday, as part of the Por amor al arte campaign, featuring work by five local artists.
The illustrations, created by Cecilia Díaz, Andrea V. Franceschi, Verónica Grech, Laura Lara and Celia Pandiella, invite viewers to reflect on love from different perspectives. Through their work, the artists explore themes such as friendship, diversity, self-love, adult relationships, emotions, bonds with animals and everyday forms of affection, conveying messages of respect, tolerance and the celebration of the many ways of caring and loving.
Curated by the bid team, the artworks reinforce the idea of kindness as a way of relating to one another and highlight the role of contemporary creation in everyday life, bringing art into the city’s ordinary spaces. Each postcard also includes a statement that captures the spirit of the project: “Kindness is also a way of loving.”
The initiative helps integrate small local businesses as key actors in Oviedo’s cultural life, allowing artistic creation to circulate through streets, neighbourhoods and the places where daily life unfolds. At the same time, the campaign contributes to raising the profile of Oviedo’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031, which promotes a vision of culture that is close to people, participatory and present in everyday life.
The organisers have thanked participating shops, business associations and the artists for their involvement, and encourage residents and visitors alike to take part in the initiative and support local commerce.
