The Ópera de Oviedo presents for the first time Vivaldi’s dramma per musica, premiered in Venice in 1727. Inspired by Ludovico Ariosto’s epic poem, this dazzling Baroque opera whirls through love, magic and madness: the knight Orlando loses his reason for love, while the sorceress Alcina manipulates everyone’s fate in a world where nothing is as it seems.

Under the musical direction of Aarón Zapico, with the Oviedo Filarmonía and the Opera of Oviedo Chorus, this production from Fondazione Teatro La Fenice (in co-production with the Festival della Valle d’Itria) combines vocal virtuosity, Baroque splendor and a visually stunning staging by Fabio Ceresa.
