Cines Embajadores: Silent Film with Live Piano
Two silent film screenings invite audiences to rediscover the comic universe of Buster Keaton, accompanied by live piano performed by Ricardo Casas.
On 14 March, the programme features The Navigator (1924), one of Keaton’s most celebrated comedies. The story begins when a shipowner sells one of his vessels to a country at war with another. Agents from the rival nation plan to sabotage the operation and set the ship adrift so that it will eventually sink. Unaware of the plot, Buster and the shipowner’s daughter — with whom he is in love — board the vessel, beginning a journey that soon turns into a sequence of absurd and hilarious situations.
On 15 March, the screening will present Safety Last! (1923), another classic of silent cinema that includes one of the most iconic scenes in film history: the protagonist hanging from the hands of a giant clock on the façade of a building.
These screenings recreate the original experience of silent cinema with live musical accompaniment, where the piano interacts with the images on screen, offering audiences a unique way to enjoy these timeless classics.
