Oviedo 2031 takes part in the 17th Culture Next Conference in Finland
Oviedo 2031 was represented at the 17th Culture Next Conference, held in Oulu (Finland), European Capital of Culture 2026. Antonia Blau, a member of the bid team, attended this international gathering, which brings together representatives from European cities to exchange experiences, share knowledge and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
The conference focused on the relationship between culture and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), paying particular attention to how these commitments can be translated into cultural policies and concrete projects. Through keynote speeches, panel discussions and project presentations, participants reflected on the role of culture in social transformation, sustainability and urban development.
The programme also offered an opportunity to discover some of the initiatives developed as part of Oulu 2026, with particular emphasis on cultural legacy and the continuity of projects beyond the European Capital of Culture year. It also included a Culture Next network working session on the island of Hailuoto, designed to encourage the exchange of experiences and cooperation between cities.
Oviedo 2031’s presence at this event reflects its commitment to the European dimension of the bid and to building connections with other cities facing shared cultural and social challenges. It was an opportunity to learn from international experiences, establish new connections and continue developing a project that places culture, participation and cooperation at the heart of its vision.
