Ventanielles hosted the first Mozu Festival thanks to Asociación Luar

Asociación Luar, a non-profit organization based in the Oviedo neighborhood of Ventanielles, hosted this past weekend the first Mozu Festival, “Suañando Mocedá”, a free event led by young people that filled the streets with music and good energy during the San Mateo festivities.
Founded in 2015, Luar works to reduce inequality of opportunity affecting young people aged 16 to 35 who face social exclusion. Every year, the association supports around 600 young people in vulnerable situations and is currently driving the creation of a community neighborhood theater, a new cultural space for everyone.
The festival “Suañando Mocedá” was presented as a meta-project of performing and visual arts, bringing together more than 30 emerging artists from Asturias across different disciplines and formats. Its goal: to provide a safe, healthy, and free leisure space for the youth of Oviedo and for all those visiting the city during these festive days.
The program, designed collaboratively by the young people of the neighborhood, featured activities such as a popular karaoke, a guided freetour through Ventanielles led by the association’s members, collective mural painting, concerts, DJ sessions, and a freestyle rap battle, among many other creative proposals.
The essence of the festival lies not only in what could be enjoyed, but also in how it was built: through collaboration, belonging, and participation. This initiative highlights the importance—within Oviedo’s bid to become European Capital of Culture—of creating alliances with projects that represent the city’s creative force and social impact, giving recognition and visibility to initiatives that improve and enrich the lives of children and young people who take part in them.
The first Mozu Festival thus becomes a stepping stone in consolidating Ventanielles as a reference point for community culture and youth in Oviedo, where culture is understood as a tool for social transformation and empowerment.
