El Desarme returns to Oviedo to delight food lovers and invite both locals and visitors to relive Spain’s oldest gastronomic festival, dating back to 1836. The city celebrates the famous “Desarme Menu” or “Menu of Peace”: chickpeas with cod and spinach, Asturian-style tripe, and rice pudding.

But it’s not just about food: historical reenactments with brotherhoods and Carlist armies will take over the streets, alongside activities organized by the City Council, the Cofradía del Desarme and Otea. A tradition that blends history, culture and cuisine, now proudly recognized as a Festival of National Tourist Interest.

On October 19, the big day, restaurants and homes alike boil with tradition. A unique opportunity to taste the history of Oviedo… spoonful by spoonful.
