Interceltic Festival of Avilés and Surrounding Area

Since 1997, the Interceltic Festival of Avilés has been growing steadily… and with rhythm! Today, it’s officially recognised as a Regional Tourist Interest Festival, turning the city into a vibrant stage to celebrate the roots and traditions of Celtic cultures. How? With plenty of music, dance, crafts, food, theatre… and that electric atmosphere you just have to experience.

From July 19 to 27, over 300 artists from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Galicia, and of course Asturias, will fill the streets and squares with concerts, parades, workshops, exhibitions, and an irresistible Celtic market. All set in iconic spots like Plaza Pedro Menéndez and the Palacio de Valdecarzana. Expect big names like Irish legends Altan, the Asturian Celtic Orchestra, bagpipe bands from Corvera and Picos de Europa, the amazing Highland Dancers from Scotland, DJ Fon‑T, and Asturian singer-songwriter Héctor Braga presenting his latest work.

The festival kicks off on July 19 with the Gausón Awards, followed by a parade and the grand opening of the Celtic market. There’ll also be an official welcome for all the groups on July 25 at the Avilés City Hall.

The Interceltic Festival of Avilés is a vibrant journey through Celtic cultures: a shared experience that blends ancient sounds with modern creativity — perfect for all ages.
