Over 10,000 Visitors at the Oviedo 2031 Stand at the Asturias Trade Fair

Oviedo is moving forward with confidence in its bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031. At the Asturias International Trade Fair, its stand — under the slogan “Puxa Europa, The Future is Now” — has already welcomed more than 10,000 visitors.

The bid starts in Oviedo, but its vision embraces all of Asturias: it’s not just a city project, but a regional challenge. The space combines information, experiences, and participation. Visitors are greeted by a familiar local touch: the iconic Mafalda bench, now a symbol of the city.

Inside, maps, facts, and images showcase the cities that have held the title since 1985, alongside highlights of Oviedo’s heritage, artistic and musical scene, and European outlook.

The most interactive part comes with activities: recording a video sharing what you love about the city, filling out a short survey with ideas for improvement, or posing in front of backdrops such as the Campoamor Theatre or Cathedral Square to show support for the bid — and enter a draw for tickets to cultural events.

The key milestone will come at the end of the year, when Oviedo submits its proposal to the European Commission, competing with cities like Granada, Burgos, Toledo, Las Palmas, and Jerez.

With more than 10,000 people already engaged, Oviedo continues to invite everyone to join in this shared goal: to become a European cultural landmark in 2031. A challenge built day by day, with ideas, participation… and plenty of enthusiasm.
