Oviedo celebrates the 13th edition of La Noche Blanca with its sights set on the European Capital of Culture 2031

On Saturday, October 4th, 2025, Oviedo will host the 13th edition of La Noche Blanca, one of its most anticipated cultural events and, at the same time, a perfect showcase of the spirit behind the city’s bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031.
For eleven hours —from 5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.— the city will transform into a vast cultural stage with more than 40 free activities. The programme reflects Oviedo’s ability to open up to Europe, embrace artistic innovation and make culture a shared experience for all citizens.
Born in Paris at the beginning of this century and later spreading across Europe, La Noche Blanca is now an international movement that Oviedo embraces with its own identity. This edition strengthens the city’s European dimension, welcoming creators from different countries and fostering exchanges that will also allow local artists to take part in Nuits Blanches in other European cities.
“All the activities are free, and through this multidisciplinary, avant-garde and innovative programme we seek to combine the artistic with the playful and the educational,” explains José Castellano, coordinator of La Noche Blanca.
The programme includes light installations, augmented reality experiences, classical and contemporary music, literature, visual arts, performing arts, heritage, performances and jam sessions. These will take place in emblematic venues such as the La Vega Arms Factory, Las Pelayas or the Historic University Building, joined this year by the renovated Sports Palace and the former prison, which will host a jam session.
Highlights include a special conversation between Edu Galán and Álex de la Iglesia at the Teatro Filarmónica, contemporary music in Trascorrales, the alternative proposals of Kuivi Almacenes, and a Chillida exhibition at the Sabadell Gallery (limited capacity).
La Noche Blanca reaffirms that Oviedo is a city that honours its roots while embracing the new with a European outlook. Each edition is an exercise in shared identity and a demonstration of the creativity, ambition and talent that underpin Oviedo’s bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2031.
