Oviedo City Council’s Stand at the Trade Fair attracted more than 42,000 visitors

The nearly 100-square-metre stand of Oviedo City Council at the Asturias International Trade Fair welcomed just over 42,000 visits during this edition, specifically 42,257 since its opening to the public. The Oviedo stand, entirely dedicated on this occasion to the European Capital of Culture 2031 project, received thousands of visitors who were able to take part in the interactive survey designed to gather citizen suggestions and ideas for improving the city’s cultural programme. A total of 11,376 surveys were completed, along with nearly 600 videos in support of Oviedo’s bid for this European recognition.

Each day, the stand hosted presentations showcasing the city’s cultural and identity strengths for the bid, such as the Auditorium Concert Series or the Piano Sessions, the annual programme of the Oviedo Filarmonía, the Opera Season, San Mateo concerts, the El Desarme Festival, the cultural programme for the final quarter of the year, and the LINK Festival, which will open on the last weekend of August. The stand also welcomed various institutions, such as the Red Cross, Oviedo Handball Club, and representatives of the regional government, including the President of Asturias, Adrián Barbón, who also recorded a video reaffirming his strong commitment to Oviedo’s cultural bid.

The highlight was Saturday 16 August, with the celebration of Oviedo Day, featuring a delegation from the Municipal Corporation, with the participation of all political groups, led by Mayor Alfredo Canteli.
