Oviedo kicks off SACO with more than 600 schoolchildren at Teatro Filarmónica
Teatro Filarmónica has kicked off a new edition of SACO –Oviedo Contemporary Audiovisual Week– with great energy, bringing together more than 600 children, students and teachers from schools across the city on its opening day.
This cultural event not only marks the start of the programme, but also the beginning of a shared experience that, over the coming weeks, will bring contemporary cinema and audiovisual creation closer to more than 8,000 students from Oviedo.
During the presentation, institutional and cultural representatives highlighted the educational dimension of the project. Lourdes García, Councillor for Education at Oviedo City Council; Sabrina Clemente, Director of Alliance Française in Oviedo; and Zoe López, Territorial Coordinator of the Oviedo 2031 Candidacy, took part in the opening, placing the spotlight on younger audiences.
Zoe López stressed that “children are the future audience of the Oviedo 2031 project” and highlighted that “education, participation and volunteering are key elements of a European Capital of Culture candidacy”.
She also added that “we will strengthen programmes such as SACO, as well as many others that reflect Oviedo’s cultural vitality, building on the talent that brings culture closer to all audiences”, underlining the importance of “an intergenerational vision as a strategic pillar of the project”.
Until 8 May, Teatro Filarmónica will host a total of 22 sessions aimed at school audiences, consolidating SACO as one of the most relevant cultural and educational initiatives in the local calendar.
