Oviedo’s shops will display the European Capital of Culture 2031 sticker during the 2025 Commerce Festival

Oviedo will celebrate its 2025 Commerce Festival this Friday, 14 November, an initiative promoted by the Department of Economy, Digital Transformation and Social Policies led by Leticia González. This year’s edition takes on special significance as, for the first time, the “Oviedo, European Capital of Culture 2031 candidate” sticker will appear in the windows of the 101 participating businesses —a record number compared to last year’s 76— showcasing the strong support of the local retail sector for the city’s cultural ambition.

The festival will also mark the launch of the 2025 Commerce Vouchers, which activate that same morning and can be used until 8 December. Each voucher is worth 10 euros (up to three per person) and can be applied to purchases of 30, 60 or 90 euros, encouraging local spending and drawing more visitors to Oviedo’s commercial areas.

From 10:00 onwards, shops will offer promotions, tastings, demonstrations, gifts and live music, accompanied by a wide programme of outdoor activities: children’s storytelling and workshops, sports proposals, live performances, street parades and gastronomic and cultural experiences across the city centre.

“The Commerce Festival invites people to enjoy Oviedo in the streets while supporting the small businesses that bring life to our neighbourhoods. Seeing local shops join as ambassadors of the candidacy reflects the city’s commitment to a dynamic, creative vision on the road to 2031,” said Leticia González.
