Support of the General Council of the Principality for the candidacy of Oviedo as European Capital of Culture 2031

The candidacy of Oviedo as European Capital of Culture 2031 is moving forward steadily. On April 23, the President of the General Council of the Principality, Juan Cofiño, met with the city’s mayor, Alfredo Canteli, to learn more about the ongoing project. After the meeting, Cofiño announced that he would bring a proposal to the Asturian parliament for deputies to support the initiative, highlighting its importance for the whole autonomous community.

Juan Cofiño’s support adds to those already expressed by the Government of the Principality, the Asturian Federation of Municipalities, and the town councils of Gijón, Avilés, Siero, Mieres, and Langreo.
