Templanza, the Puxa el barrio project, closes in Caces with a concert at the Tres Caños washhouse
Dozens of people attended the closing concert of Templanza this Sunday, one of the projects included in Puxa el barrio, the programme promoted by Oviedo 2031’s bid to become European Capital of Culture, which brings artistic creation and cultural participation processes to social centres, neighbourhoods and rural areas across the municipality.
Developed in Caces and Las Caldas, the project has worked to recover collective memory through popular songs, oral transmission and shared memories from local residents.
The Tres Caños washhouse, in Caces, was the setting chosen for this final event. For generations, this space was a place of encounter, conversation and community life, and this weekend it once again became a meeting point around memory and popular culture.
The concert was led by artists Ana Pereda and Antía EseUve, accompanied by the people who have taken part in the workshops over recent weeks, sharing songs, stories and memories linked to the territory.
Through different sessions held in Caces and Las Caldas, Templanza has highlighted forms of oral transmission that are part of the municipality’s intangible heritage. The result of this process was presented in a collective performance that recognised the importance of preserving, activating and sharing this knowledge.
With initiatives such as Templanza, Puxa el barrio seeks to strengthen the links between culture, territory and citizens, bringing artistic creation closer to the places where everyday life unfolds and recognising collective memory as an essential part of Oviedo’s cultural future.
