Sentémonos: the Oviedo 2031 team takes to the streets to talk with citizens about the bid
The Oviedo bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2031 launched Sentémonos this Saturday in Plaza del Ayuntamiento, an initiative open to the public designed to explain the project, answer questions and gather contributions directly.
Under the slogan “No rush, no registration”, the proposal invites residents and visitors to sit down and talk with the Oviedo 2031 team in a close and informal format, with no stage, lectern or speeches. The first session turned Plaza del Ayuntamiento into a meeting space, created to bring the bid closer to the city’s everyday life and make it easier for anyone to learn more about the project.
Throughout the morning, the Oviedo 2031 team shared information on what it means to be European Capital of Culture, the current stage of the bid and the role citizens can play in this new phase. The initiative seeks to open a direct channel for listening, collect impressions and add new perspectives to the project through calm and accessible conversation.
Sentémonos is part of the bid’s citizen participation process and will continue over the coming weeks in different locations across Oviedo. The city is currently working on the second bid book, which will be submitted to the European jury, after being selected as one of the four finalist cities alongside Cáceres, Granada and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
With this initiative, Oviedo 2031 reinforces its commitment to building a shared, accessible and close-to-the-people bid, connected to those who live in, visit and shape the city every day.
