Oviedo continues building a participatory cultural model

The Exhibition and Conference Centre, Calatrava Building, hosted new open working sessions yesterday as part of the ongoing process to define Oviedo’s cultural model within the framework of the Cultural Capital. This time, participants included professionals from the fields of heritage, literature, libraries, and popular culture, all united by a shared goal: to move towards a more democratic, inclusive, and decentralised cultural landscape.
Throughout the session, the value of traditional knowledge was highlighted, along with the need to involve younger generations and the challenge of reaching all neighbourhoods, sensibilities, and social classes. The importance of integrating the Cultural Capital project into the education system was also emphasised, encouraging active participation of secondary schools in the city’s cultural life.
These participatory sessions reflect Oviedo’s commitment to an open, diverse, and collectively built cultural model.
