Oviedo City Council launches a €200,000 funding scheme for artistic creation and production for the first time

Oviedo City Council, through the Municipal Culture Foundation, is launching for the first time a grant scheme aimed at promoting artistic creation and production, with a total budget of €200,000.

The initiative, published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette of the Principality of Asturias (BOPA), implements one of the measures included in the Oviedo Strategic Culture Plan (PECO 2035), within the strategic line focused on fostering artistic creation and production and strengthening the local cultural sector.

The aim of these grants is to provide financial support for distinctive projects of general interest, encourage new initiatives and contribute to the growth of a more diverse and dynamic cultural sector, with particular attention to emerging talent.

The call is open to individuals, legal entities and non-profit organisations working in the cultural field that carry out their activity in Oviedo or have a professional track record linked, at least in part, to the municipality. Professionals without previous experience in Oviedo may also apply when their projects have a particular connection with the city’s culture.

The grants will be awarded through a competitive selection process and have an overall budget of €200,000, funded by the Municipal Culture Foundation.

Applications may be submitted for 20 calendar days from the day after publication of the call in the BOPA, with the deadline set for 22 September.

The application form and the required documentation will also be available through Oviedo City Council’s e-Office and must be submitted via the Electronic Registry, addressed to the Municipal Culture Foundation.

With this new funding scheme, the City Council introduces a specific financial support tool for artistic creation and production, designed to facilitate the development of projects and create new opportunities for artists, creators and cultural professionals.

The launch of these grants also represents a further step in the implementation of PECO 2035 and reinforces the work Oviedo is carrying out as part of its bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031, particularly in relation to supporting the local creative sector and consolidating cultural policies capable of creating a lasting impact beyond the bid itself.
