Oviedo involves its neighbors in the candidacy for European Capital of Culture

Oviedo takes another step further on the road to becoming the European Capital of Culture in 2031. Sectorial tables have been organized in various neighborhoods of the city to involve residents, organizations, and social agents in the creation of a project that reflects the city’s diversity. Yesterday, May 19th, at 6:00 p.m., the first session took place at the Vallobín social center, where Pepe Monpeán, coordinator of the candidacy, reminded everyone that “what we build through consensus and collaboration with our territory is what truly adds value.”

During these meetings, topics such as the cultural and social needs of each neighborhood, the decentralization of culture, and the creation of synergies were addressed. From the City Council, we would like to thank everyone who took part in this initiative yesterday and encourage them to spread the word to make Oviedo a cultural reference, placing its residents at the heart at the center.
