The sixth edition of LINK strengthens Oviedo 2031 bid with Digital Art and Immersive Experiences

Oviedo’s stand at the Asturias International Trade Fair (FIDMA), dedicated this year to the city’s bid for European Capital of Culture 2031, hosted the presentation of the sixth edition of LINK – Circuit of Unusual Cultural Experiences, which will take place at the La Vega Arms Factory from 29 to 31 August. The programme was presented by the Councillor for Festivities, Youth and Social Centres, Covadonga Díaz, and the festival’s Artistic Director, José Castellano.Díaz highlighted that LINK “enhances the artistic offering of Oviedo 2031’s bid, betting on innovation, dialogue between disciplines, and openness to the unknown.” Castellano described the event as “a meeting space for advanced artistic languages and new technologies, with cutting-edge installations and extended realities coming for the first time to Asturias, and in many cases to Spain.”

The programme includes two large-format audiovisual installations: LifeForm, by Canadian artist Herman Kolgen, and Hint, by the collective SPIME.IM together with creator Akasha. In addition, audiences will be able to experience four international mixed and augmented reality works: Impulse: Playing With Reality (awarded at the Venice Biennale), Ito Meikyu (Grand Prize at the Venice Festival), Colored (winner at Cannes), and In Pursuit of Repetitive Beats, focused on British rave culture.

All activities are free of charge, with open access until full capacity is reached and on-site registration at the Arms Factory for immersive experiences. Opening hours are Friday from 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm.

With this new edition, LINK consolidates Oviedo as an international showcase for digital art and innovative cultural projects, adding value to its candidacy as European Capital of Culture 2031.
