Puxa el Barrio returns with new projects and ongoing artistic residencies
Puxa el Barrio, Oviedo City Council’s community participation and creation programme promoted by Oviedo 2031, resumes its activity this autumn with new artistic residencies and the continuation of several projects launched before the summer.
Among the new proposals is Xuntanza, taking place in La Manjoya with Mono Escena and the Municipal School of Sustainability. The project uses theatre and community creation to explore the memory of the former El Fulminato explosives factory and its relationship with the territory, landscape and sustainability. The process will culminate in a theatrical walk built from memories, testimonies and materials contributed by the local community.
Also starting this autumn is Dónde no imaginas, coordinated by LluPA ACTS. The project will take place in El Cristo II and Villa Magdalena, combining design, illustration and soundscape to explore stories, memories and details of everyday spaces that often go unnoticed.
Huellas, by photographers Irma Collín and Ainhoa Valle, also continues in El Cortijo and Buenavista. Through photographs and family archives, the project explores memory, identity and a sense of belonging. The residency will conclude with two exhibitions in public space, one in each neighbourhood.
In Trubia, Love is in the Air also continues, a residency led by dancer and choreographer Mónica García that uses dance and movement as tools for encounter and collective creation. The project will culminate in a dance intervention in the streets of Trubia, and registration is still open for anyone wishing to take part.
Puxa el Barrio is part of Oviedo 2031’s participation strategy and seeks to build culture from within the neighbourhoods, involving artists and local communities in shared creative processes through disciplines such as photography, dance, theatre, design and soundscape.
