HUELLAS: Photography, Memory and Collective Creation in Oviedo’s Neighbourhoods
How many stories can a photograph hold? What do family photo albums tell us about the places where we live? Huellas invites residents of Buenavista and La Corredoria to take part in a collective creative process that uses photography as a tool to recover memories, share experiences and build new perspectives on their neighbourhoods.
Promoted by the Oviedo 2031 European Capital of Culture candidacy as part of the Puxa el Barrio. Arte que habita programme, the project is coordinated by photographers and artistic mediators Irma Collín and Ainhoa Valle, specialists in participatory photography and community memory.
Through a series of meetings and workshops, participants will work with family photographs, personal archives and memories connected to their everyday surroundings to create a visual and emotional map of their neighbourhoods. The project aims to highlight the small stories that form part of Oviedo’s collective memory, while encouraging intergenerational exchange, cultural participation and stronger community ties.
The initiative will continue after the summer with the creation of a final exhibition showcasing part of the work developed throughout the process.
