The Edificio Trascorrales hosts an open meeting to bring Oviedo’s 2031 European Capital of Culture bid closer to citizens

Oviedo continues to move forward with its bid to become European Capital of Culture 2031 with a new event open to the public. Next Thursday, April 16, the “edificio Trascorrales” will host at 8:00 pm an “Alderique Amable” (friendly gathering), a meeting designed to bring the project closer to citizens, answer questions and, above all, encourage collective participation.

Spain will be one of the two host countries for the European Capital of Culture in 2031, and four Spanish cities have reached the final stage of the selection process: Oviedo —representing the whole of Asturias— together with Cáceres, Granada and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

In this context, the event will serve to share with the local community the current state of the bid and the challenges ahead before the final decision, expected at the end of the year. The meeting is open to anyone interested in learning more, contributing ideas or taking an active role in the process, with free admission until full capacity is reached.

The scheduled performance by Elena del Frade has been cancelled due to health reasons. In her place, from 9:30 pm, Tania Pereira will present her new album Rousa de Jericó, a proposal that blends folk roots with a contemporary experimental approach, moving between Asturian and Spanish.

An opportunity to listen, ask questions and take part in a project that looks towards Europe without losing sight of its roots. Because if there is one thing Oviedo and Asturias are clear about, it is that this bid is built collectively, with and for its citizens.
