Gijón hosts a meeting between audiovisual and visual arts professionals as part of the European Capital of Culture initiative

The Centro Cultural Antiguo Instituto in Gijón was yesterday the venue for a gathering of professionals from the audiovisual and visual arts sectors. The event served as a space for dialogue around key topics such as the recovery of disused spaces, the creation of temporary venues for artistic expression, and the transmission of traditional knowledge.
Throughout the sessions, participants emphasized the importance of fostering collaboration between disciplines and highlighted the vital role of cultural mediation teams as bridges between artists, institutions, and the public. The discussions also stressed the need to promote artist residencies that encourage the exchange of knowledge and experiences.
The meeting reaffirms the European Capital of Culture team’s commitment to culture as a driver of social cohesion and creativity, strengthening networks among professionals from different fields and generating new opportunities for artistic development.
